<p>BRONCHITIS</p><p>Inflammation or infection of the lining of bronchial tubes is called bronchitis.</p><p>Acute bronchitis:<br> lasts 2 to 4 weeks and can be treated. Acute bronchitis is usually due to a viral infection -- such as a cold -- that starts in your nose or sinuses and spreads to the airways.</p><p>Diagnosis: (1) acute cough less than 1-2 weeks (2) no prior lung disease (3) no auscultatory abnormalities that suggest pneumonia.</p><p>Chronic bronchitis:<br> is a long-term disease of the lungs. Chronic bronchitis is characterized by a productive (wet) cough that is persistent.</p><p>Causes of Bronchitis</p><p>a) Bacterial or viral infections.</p><p>b) Smoking.</p><p>c) Air pollution.</p><p>d) Allergy to something in the air such as pollen.</p><p>e) Lung disease such as asthma or emphysema.</p><p>SIGN AND SYMPTOM:</p><p>Inflammation or swelling of the bronchi.</p><p>Coughing.</p><p>Production of clear, white, yellow, grey, or green mucus (sputum) .</p><p>Shortness of breath.</p><p>Wheezing.</p><p>Fever and chills .</p><p>Chest pain or discomfort .</p><p>Blocked or runny nose.</p><p>Fatigue.</p><p>DIAGNOSIS:</p><p>Chest X-ray.</p><p>Sputum culture.</p><p>Pulmonary function test.</p><p>COMPLICATION:</p><p>Emphysema</p><p>Bronchiectasis</p><p>Cor-pulmonale</p><p>HOMOEOPATHY<br> Improves self defense mechanism of the body &amp; Helps in reducing the severity of the attack.</p>
