WHAT IS HEALTH?

•“A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

•Homoeopathic concept

What is disease?

“An impairment of health or a condition of abnormal functioning.”

Homoeopathy concept

PROMOTION OF HEALTH

“ The process of enabling people to increase control over and to improve health.”

It strengthens the host through variety of approaches.

SPECIFIC PROTECTION

1.Immunization

2.Use of Specific Nutrients

3.Chemoprophylaxis

4.Protection Against Occupational Hazards

5.Protection Against Accidents

6.Protection Against Carcinogens

7.Avoidance of Allergens

8.Control of specific hazards in the general environment - air pollution

9.Control of consumer product quality and safety of foods, drugs, cosmetics, etc

•Immunization through the administrations of vaccines has its own benefits and hazards.

• There are many problems which arise because of administration of vaccines.

•Dr Burnnet and other stalwarts have observed many hazards after vaccines which they named as VACCINOSIS.

Boenninghausen was the first to observe Thuja Occidentalis homoeopathicity to Small Pox.

•He concludes by saying that Thuja is a dynamic antidote to the effect of vaccination.

•Vaccination is a homoeoprophylactic disease measure, one disease is given to prevent a like one.

•If the diseasing process of vaccination fail to protect then the vaccinated person will be more likely to die because there is homoeprophylactic aggravation, the two diseases combine to kill the patient just the same way the homoeopathic remedy will aggravate the disease to which it is highly homoeopathic.

PREVENTION OF VACCINE DAMAGE

•ONE WAY- DON’T BE VACCINATED

•Taking the potencies of the relevant vaccines before vaccination

•Taking the nosodes of the relevant diseases before vaccination

•Taking Thuja (or other anti-vaccination remedies) in high potency before vaccination

•Obtaining treatment before vaccination

•Large doses of vit C for a week before and after vaccination

DR SMITS ADVICE TO THOSE VACCINATING THEIR KIDS

•Delay giving the vaccines until the child is older, ten to twelve months

•Don’t give multiple vaccines at one time

•Don’t give vaccines so close to each other (2 months apart is too frequent)

•Don’t give vaccines for too many diseases

•Treat any immediate vaccine damage

•Don’t give the next vaccines until the child has recovered from the precious vaccines

•Never treat a child that is ill or not fully recovered from an acute disease

Other means to help the community

EARLY DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

•Early detection and treatment are the main interventions of disease control.

•The earlier a disease is diagnosed and treated the better it is from the point of view of prognosis and preventing the occurrence of further cases or any long term disability.

DISABILITY LIMITATION

Disease impairment disability handicap

•The intervention in disability will often be social or environmental as well as medical. While impairment which is the earliest stage has a large medical component, disability and handicap which are later stages have large social and environmental components in terms of dependence and social cost.

REHABILITATION

•It involves disciplines such as physical medicine or physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology, psychology, education, social work, voocational guidance and placement services.

DISEASE PREVENTION

•In modern day, the concept of prevention has become broad - based.

•We define prevention as -

1.Primodial Prevention

2.Primary Prevention

3.Secondary Prevention

4.Tertiary Prevention

PRIMODIAL PREVENTION

•It is prevention of the emergence or development of risk factors in countries of population groups in which they have not yet appeared.

•Example you discourage children on being obese.

PRIMARY PREVENTION

“Action taken prior to the onset of disease, which removes the possibility that a disease will ever occur.”

•Primary prevention is a holistic approach.

•It utilizes knowledge of the pre pathogenesis phase of disease, embracing the agent, host and environment.

SECONDARY PREVENTION

“Action which halts the progress of a disease at its incipient stage and prevents complications.”

•These are early diagnosis and adequate treatment. Thus we can attempt to arrest the disease process, restore health by seeking out unrecognized disease and treating it before irreversible pathological changes have taken place and reverse communicability of infectious disease.

HOMOEOPATHIC PREVENTION

1.SMALLPOX: Variolinum 1X, MALANDRIUM, THUJA, dose of SULPHUR-200 may be required as an incurrent remedy as it prevents the vaccinia itself-Farrington

2.CHICKEN POX: Mild doses of ACONITE while temperature is elevated and APIS when there is itching with eruption. THUJA-200 one dose alternate days for a week is given as preventive

3.MEASELS: Good results were obtained with PULSATILLA and ACONITE one dose of 6th or 12th potency every other day during the whole course of epidemic PULS along with SULPHUR

4.GERMAN MEASELS: PULS in low potencies is used as a prophylactic

5.MUMPS: PAROTIDINUM 30/3 dose daily

1.DIPHTHERIA: DIPHTHERINUM 200 is specific MERC CYAN 3X trituration is taken half a spoonful on the tongue followed by a little water at night and morning act as preventive against Diphtheria. A dose of PHYTO-LAC-OCT in Q as a safe guard before going to visit Diphtheria patients.

2.WHOOPING COUGH: DROSERA 1X two doses, night & morning for a child over 7yrs. One pill, night and morning for younger ones.

3.PERTUSSIN: CARBO VEG, CUPRUM MET in potency are important remedies to be selected according.

1.MENINGOCOCCAL MENINGITIS: ARNICA from the commencement as a prophylactic and administration of a low dilution of ACONITE in frequency repeated doses as inflammatory or febrile symptoms appear. If Delerium supervenes you may alternate ACON with BELL but don’t omit it.

2.TUBERCULOSIS: BACILLUM 10M,5OM,CM at 6-8 weeks interval will eradicate the tendency

3.INFLUENZA: QUIN NIT 1X 5drops, 3 times daily

4.POLIOMYELITIS: LATHYRUS SATIVA is better safer in its 1st or 6th strength.

5.SCARLET FEVER: BELL 1dt or 2nd dilution one dose morning and night is the best prophylactic

6.PURPURA MILIARIS: ACONITE

HEPATITIS: PHOSPHOROUS in low potency. In chronic jaundice where there is no evidence of mechanical obstruction to the flow bile PHOS and IODUM in low potency and CHELIDONIUM in Q. KALIMUR 30X, 2 dose a day for a week to be given to persons around a jaundice patient.

2.CHOLERA: CAMPHOR is an antidote. ARSENIC, VERATRUM and CUPRUM in lighter potencies. CUP CET 3X in water, night and morning.

3.TYPHOID FEVER: TYPHOIDINUM 30 OR 200 are better prophylatics Q 1X 3X potency of BAPTISTA. ACID PHOS is a powerful antityphoid.

Some instructions on prophylactic.

•Constitutional medicine given to expectant mother.

•Baby is given
Sulph
at birth.

•Followed by antimiasmatic medicines. Like tub, thuja, med, syph, etc

GENUS EPIDEMICUS

•This usually denotes the remedy similar to the totality of symptoms found in majority of patients suffering from an epidemic disease which will cure the disease as well as prevent the occurrence in the healthy.

•It provides a much higher degree of efficiency, both in prophylaxis and early treatment of cases.

•In a cluster of cases of whooping cough in United States 1996, Corallium Rubrum was prescribed based on indications and was found effective. It was also successful in prophylaxis of family and friends of the patients.

•The totality of symptoms of the epidemic may change as the epidemic evolves over time and different geographic areas. Different variables like age, nutrition, climatic conditions, susceptibility of the population etc.. Of a particular location has an influence on the totality.
